Meet Melissa! MP2 Structural Engineer x Two

Melissa Weeks is our employee²—hired by MP-Squared, not once, but twice! In our first Employee Spotlight, Melissa shares what she loves about working at MP2 and her varied activities outside of engineering.

Tell us about your experience at MP2

Since I graduated from college and joined the company in 2013, MP2 has been my second family. Everyone treats each other right and looks out for one another—not to mention the positive encouragement and mentorship you get as a young professional.

In 2016, my husband and I decided to move closer to our family, as neither of us is from the Madison area. I spent four years at another company, and nothing there could compare to the work culture at MP2 and the design quality we output.

I was so grateful when Melissa Peyton asked me to come back to MP2 and work remotely.

My day-to-day activities look a little different from other employees, as I work from Appleton—there are a lot of Teams video calls and always dogs at my feet.

 

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

My husband and I have two young kids (ages four and seven) and two big retrievers, one lab and one golden. We fill our 4Runner, traveling on the weekends. We love family hikes, fishing, beach days and spending time at my family’s hunting cabin in Black River Falls.

My hobbies are all over the board! I love bow hunting in the fall. During the workweek, you’ll find me at a Zumba class in the evening. And I love to make and decorate my kids’ birthday cakes from scratch.
