Kalahari Resorts is a year-round destination in Wisconsin Dells, featuring Wisconsin’s largest indoor water park, 1000+ guest rooms and suites as well as a variety of dining and entertainment options.
The Kalahari Unit Expansion, which added 237 new guest rooms, was part of a recent $80 million renovation and expansion project. This new hotel building, named “Hillside at Kalahari,” was designed as three wings, each connected to the common area that consists of a lobby, elevators and dining areas.
The east and west wings are three stories, with an exposed lower level (first floor) facing south. A partial precast concrete podium is located at the second floor, supported by a cantilevered interior retaining wall along the north side. The north wing is two stories on a concrete slab-on-ground located at the third-floor elevation.
A drive-under porte cochère is located at the main south lobby entrance. The building also includes a pedestrian walkway structure, connecting the new hotel to the existing one and creating a continuous internal walkway between all the Kalahari buildings.
